INSULATION

In many homes this is the most practical and cost effective way to make a house more energy efficient. Because it keeps homes cooler in summer and warmer in winter, it is possible to save up to 40 percent in heating and cooling bills. In addition, it may reduce condensation in the home.

Here is more on the importance of insulation from the US Department of Energy site: http://energy.gov/public-services/homes/home-weatherization/

INSULATION PROVIDES:
  • More airtight home
  • Reduced heat loss
  • Added overall home value
  • No on-going maintenance cost
  • No replacement cost
  • Lower initial A/C mechanical investment
  • Lower utility bills

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Insulation is a means of catching air in pockets or bubbles. It divides the space in our ceilings, walls, and other areas into billions of these little air pockets or bubbles. When hot air attempts to move through the material towards the cold air, it must warm each air pocket independently before it moves to the subsequent air pocket, slowing the transfer of heat through your house.
